How it works ยท 5 small steps

From hen to history,
in under five minutes.

Henventory is a tiny piece of software with a clear job: capture every egg, every hen, every quiet detail, and turn the running total into something you actually want to look at. Here's how it goes.

The deep dive

Five steps, in detail.

01
Step one

Meet your flock.

Add each of your hens with a name, breed, hatch date, and a 'how to tell apart' note. Pick a status (Pullet, Layer, Molting, Retired) and you're set.

โœ“ Takes ~30 sec/hen
โœ“ Photos optional but adorable
โœ“ Edit anytime
note Just here for the eggs and not the hens? Switch to Flock mode in Settings โ€” no hen assignment needed.

02
Step two

Log a collection in ten seconds.

Tap the hen, tap the count, done. Most folks log right at the coop on their phone. Add a note if anything's interesting โ€” soft shell, double yolker, broody behavior.

โœ“ One tap per hen
โœ“ Works on mobile
โœ“ Multiple collections per day
note Logging from the desktop? The same quick-log lives at the top of your dashboard.

Step three
Coming soon

Watch the patterns emerge.

Henventory quietly stitches every entry into trends โ€” daily counts, per-hen averages, day-of-week patterns, seasonal heatmaps. A few weeks in, you'll know who's pulling her weight.

โœ“ Auto-generated, no setup
โœ“ Per-hen + flock-wide
โœ“ 2-year rolling history
note Best in flock gets a little crown next to her name. Sorry, Mrs. Henderson.

Step four
Coming soon

Keep a journal worth re-reading.

Some days the eggs aren't the story. Drop a quick journal entry โ€” observation, vet note, weather, predator scare โ€” and tag the hens it's about. Years from now, you'll be glad you did.

โœ“ Tag multiple hens
โœ“ Search by hen or keyword
โœ“ Export to PDF
note The journal field is the same one that's optional inside a collection โ€” same data, two front doors.

"Found a soft-shell this morning โ€” third this week. Bumping her oyster shell ration."
05
Step five

Share the chore (and the credit).

Invite the rest of the household so everyone logs into the same flock. Pop logs the afternoon pickup, the kids log the morning, and the data lines up without anyone double-counting.

โœ“ Up to 6 household members
โœ“ Per-member activity in trends
โœ“ No separate accounts to manage
note Roles are simple โ€” Owner can manage the flock; Members can log and journal.

What you actually get

Less spreadsheet, more chicken-keeping.

Henventory replaces the back-of-the-egg-carton tally and that one spreadsheet you keep meaning to update.

๐Ÿฅš
Daily
A two-tap log
Open the app, pick the hen, pick the count. Most users log in under ten seconds.
๐Ÿ“ˆ
Weekly
Patterns you can act on
Trends surface soft-shell streaks, drop-offs, and seasonal slumps before they become a problem.

Forever
A record worth keeping
Two-year heatmap, journal-by-hen, export-everything. The flock's history is yours.
From the coop
"I had eight hens and a notebook with three years of half-finished tallies. Two weeks in, I knew Penelope was carrying the team and Mrs. Henderson was due for a vet check. Worth it."

โ˜… Early bird special โ˜…

The early bird gets the app.

Henventory is in early preview โ€” free to join, and free forever if you join now. Every feature available today gets grandfathered into your account for keeps. The worm rewards the early.

โ˜… Pick a mode

Not sure what you need?

Henventory has two modes. Flock mode just counts the eggs. Layer mode tracks each hen by name. Compare them side by side, tap any step to peek under the hood, and pick whatever fits. (You can switch later โ€” your data stays put.)

The simple one
๐Ÿชบ
Flock mode.
The core Henventory experience. Just count the eggs and call it a day.
โžก๏ธ You might want this ifโ€ฆ
๐Ÿฅšyou have a small farm with too many chickens to track individually
๐Ÿฅšyou're interested in how many eggs you get each day (instead of tracking who's laying what)
๐Ÿฅšyour hens lay eggs that look similar (or identical) to one another
๐Ÿฅšyou only check for eggs once or twice a day

Flock mode is for folks who want to know how many eggs the coop produced โ€” not who laid which one. One number per collection. No hen setup, no dropdowns. The faster path.

How it goes
tap to expand
1 Tap 'Got some eggs?' โ–พ
The big button lives at the top of your dashboard. One tap to start a collection.
2 Pick your name, type the count. โ–พ
Choose your name from the household dropdown, enter how many eggs you found, and submit.
3 See your day add up. โ–พ
Each collection appears under Today's Entries. The day's running tally lives at the top of the dashboard.
4 Browse the history. โ–พ
All Entries shows every collection ever. Filter by date range, sort newest or oldest, or scroll the calendar to a specific day.
Need to edit or delete an entry? Hit the options menu below the entry. Every change stays in the household record.
With the bells & whistles
๐Ÿ”
Layer mode.
The full experience. Every egg gets assigned to a hen, every hen gets her own profile.
โžก๏ธ You might want this ifโ€ฆ
๐Ÿฅšyou can tell your hens' eggs apart
๐Ÿฅšyou have a few different breeds and want to compare their productivity, peak egg-laying seasons, etc.
๐Ÿฅšyou check for eggs frequently throughout the day

Layer mode adds the My Flock tab โ€” a roster of each of your hens with breed, hatch date, and how-to-tell-apart notes. Every egg you log gets attributed to a specific bird, so you can compare productivity, spot a hen who's gone quiet, and crown the Employee of the Month.

How it goes
tap to expand
1 Add your hens. โ–พ
From My Flock, hit 'Add new chicken.' Fill in name, breed, hatch date, and a 'how to tell apart' note. Mark her Pullet or Layer.
2 Tap 'Got some eggs?' โ–พ
Same button as Flock mode, different form on the other side.
3 Pick the hen who laid it. โ–พ
Each egg gets assigned to a specific hen. Got more than one? Hit 'Got another egg?' and assign the next one.
4 Watch the leaderboard form. โ–พ
Employee of the Month, per-hen trends, soft-shell streaks, broody patterns โ€” the longer you log, the more you see.
Brand-new hen on the cards? Most stats fill in after a few weeks of data. Pullets graduate to layers automatically when you log their first egg.
โ‡„
You can switch modes anytime.
Start in Flock, decide later you want per-hen detail? Flip it in Settings. Your old entries stay put โ€” they just don't get back-attributed to hens (we don't know who laid them).
